TAG TEAM REPORT: WWE Over the Limit Results and Review
WWE Over the Limit Results and Review
Rick here to discuss: Last night was WWE's Over the Limit PPV. The Tag Team Champions of Pro Wrestling news were in attendance.....at our old stomping grounds at Fanatics Sports Bar. This was of course after the fact that we realized the new place we were headed to, "Rodz", was not showing the PPV. I guess Rodz decided to be a tease and only show the Wrestlemania PPV. Soooo we decided to head on over to where we loyally went to when we decided to watch a PPV. Food's better there any way. Our disfigured Tech guy Mike could not make it because he had to stay home cleaning out his freakish gaping hole he calls a mouth. It's pretty disgusting. You should feel lucky that you don't have to see it in person. Thank God he's got tech skills. Yeeesh... So moving on, the overall PPV was actually not very good. Carlos and I didn't have high expectations for it anyway. This was just another filler PPV to make way for some hopefully new storylines. The one thing I did notice was that there was a severe lack of a tribute to the late great Macho Man Randy Savage. They did have the brief "In Memory" message before the PPV started, but I was expecting at the very least a video tribute highlighting his career. That was not to be. The only other tribute after that came from CM Punk when he mimicked Macho's high flying elbow drop off the top rope. He didn't connect with it but at least it was something that I believe her personally slipped in. The fans in attendance live realized it and gave a good pop for it. R-Truth vs. Mysterio This was an average match. Nothing to big about it. It was okay. Truth came out to some kind of weird gong song that I thought doesn't really suit him. It fits his gimmick right now, not wanting to dance and perform for "Little Jimmy" but it just gets too quiet when he comes to the ring and leaves. He ends up winning with a clean win over Rey. Ezekiel Jackson vs. Wade Barret-IC Title Match Another sub-par match, although I wasn't expecting this to be a classic anyway. Big Zeke and his milk duds won the match by DQ after the rest of the Corre came out and interfered. Expect this rivalry to continue a bit more. Sin Cara vs. Chavo Guerrero I was really disappointed with this match. I've always like watching Sin Cara wrestle but MAN, all his spots were messed up. They couldn't get it together. The crowd wasn't that into it either. And of course the lights were blue and yellow which I think doesn't make sense, but whatever. Sin Cara wins, but he doesn't use that awesome move off the top rope. It's like a flip suplex. I guess Chavo didn't want to do it. Sin Cara even looked disappointed after the match. Big Show & Kane vs. CM Punk and Mason Ryan- WWE Tag Title Match Alberto Del Rio came out before the match started and cut a short promo about how he could make both Cena and the Miz say "No mas, no mas" which I thought was kinda funny. But the hilarity of the night went to Kane when he came out and grabbed the mike and said he was disappointed the Rapture didn't happen. He was looking forward to it. That was funny. The match was okay with Big Show and Kane going over. WHAT THE HELL WAS UP WITH THAT SKIT?!!! So WWE decides to name their next PPV "Capitol Punishment" because it's in Washington, D.C. Okay, I don't mind that. But then they tried this horrible sketch where Obama was doing an "interview" about the WWE. Blah, I thought it was poorly done. Kelly Kelly vs. Brie Bella- Divas Title Match Ok, Kelly does the stinkface, now? Really? Brie acted like she had dead skunk ass rubbed in her face. This match was what I expected. Not so great. The twins do the switch and win the match. Christian vs. Randy Orton- World Heavyweight Title Match This was the match of the night. Great wrestling and great storytelling. I was expecting Christian to turn heel at the end when he lost, but he didn't. At least not yet. Everything was great about this match. All the other wrestlers should take note. Cole vs. The King- Kiss my Foot Match A lot of cameos in this match at the end. Cole tries to get away with a doctor's note but the ref tears it up, which I thought was cool. Lawler beats Cole senseless and then EVE Torres comes out........EVE?! She does a moonsault and then Jim Ross appears with a bottle of BBQ sauce and pours it into Cole's face. Cole attempts to escape when BRET HART appears behind him to throw him into the ring so he can not kiss, but SUCK on Lawler's toe. That was pretty gross. John Cena vs. The Miz- WWE Title Match, I QUIT Match So this match was not a surprise to us whatsoever. Cena gets double teamed by Miz and Alex Riley, but then Cena gets whipped......like a mule. Cena even kicks his legs out like a donkey at one point. Then they use the old Mankind/Rock "angle" with a recorded voice on a cell phone? My question is: How did they get Cena's voice on a cell phone? Did they prank call him and cajole him into saying "I Quit"? HAHA, who knows? Ref restarts the match and predictably Cena makes Miz say I quit with just an STF. Woo...hoo. So that was it...Over the Limit is finally OVER. Like I wrote, not a very good PPV. Glad we didn't order it. But now the WWE can make way with some new Storylines. Keep it locked here on TagTeamReport.com for some further news and opinions and look out for our first official podcast in the next couple of weeks. Peace and chicken grease.....
